Glossier Cosmetics- one of the hottest makeup brands on the market right now. They strive to create products that enhance your natural features instead of hiding them. Before going on a beach vacation this Summer where I knew makeup would not be something I would want to spend a lot of time doing there, I decided to pick up a variety of Glossier’s highest rated products to try them for myself. Now that I’ve been using them for a few months, I thought it was the perfect time to review them and tell you what I think about such hyped-about products.
The first thing I knew I wanted to try by Glossier was their Perfecting Skin Tint, after hearing youtuber and blogger, Allana Davison, rave about it. Their shade range is very limited, only having five shades. While their shade range is small, the product itself is forgiving. I got the shade medium, and it matched my summer tan perfectly, but still matches my skin now that I’m much lighter. The product is extremely sheer and really is just a perfecting skin tint, as the name appropriately suggests. It blurs insecurities, but has little to no coverage. You definitely have to be comfortable in your own skin to like this product, but I personally love it. It’s very dewy and is better suited for those with dry skin, like myself. This is a makeup staple for me, and you can hear me talk about this product more in a blog post coming later this week where I talk about my everyday makeup routine.
The next product I decided to get was their original Priming Moisturizer. This is probably one of their most, if not the most, popular product. Every beauty blogger and Youtuber has raved about this product, but it underwhelmed me. For my extremely dry skin, it just didn’t do the trick unless I used it in combination with oils, which I don’t like to do underneath makeup because it tends to break it down. It does, however, make a nice base for your makeup to stick to because after it sets onto your skin, it feels tacky, which is the “Priming” part of the name “Priming Moisturizer” coming into effect. They have since released a richer and more hydrating version of this cult-classic product that I’m excited to try. If you don’t have dry skin, I’d say go for the purchase on this one. If you do, I’d say to opt for their Priming Moisturizer Rich.
Their other most famous product is their Boy Brow, which is a tinted brow gel that has swept the beauty world. So, obviously, I had to try it for myself. This is actually the only tinted brow gel that I had ever tried because I am strictly a brow pencil and clear brow gel kind of girl, but not anymore. I have completely ditched my Anastasia Brow Wiz for this brow gel. It’s quick, fool-proof, and keeps my unruly brow hairs in place until I take it off. If you don’t have thick brows naturally like I do, you still might have to fill in some areas with a pencil. Even if that’s the case though, I’d still recommend this product because it makes your brows look effortlessly polished and perfect. I can’t rave about this product enough!
When I was placing my order, Cloud Paints had just come out and I was desperate to get my hands on them. I ended up purchasing the shade “Beam” which is a beautiful peach color. This cream, almost liquid, blush formula is absolutely stunning. You can rub it into your skin with fingers, a brush, or a sponge depending on how opaque you want the color to be. My preferred method of applications is rubbing the bulk in with my fingers and blurring out any harsh edges with my beauty blender. They also last much longer than any of my powder blushes which is a major bonus for a busy student like me who wears makeup for up to 12 hours before I have a chance to take it off at night. I highly recommend these beautiful blushes.
Last but certainly not least, I picked up Glossier’s Balm Dotcom (How cute is that name?!) because I am absolutely obsessed with lip balms and am always trying to find the next best one. This is an ultra-moisturizing balm that I’ve even used on cracked skin when I’m in a pinch. It leaves a perfect base for lipstick application, and is great to use before bed so you wake up with soft and plump lips. I have the Mint flavor which is untinted and leaves your lips feeling fresh and tingly, something I always look for in a lip balm. If you’ve read this post and think this is the only product I’ve mentioned that you’re interested in, I’d say skip the shipping costs and head to your local Sephora, Ulta or Nordstrom and grab Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm because the two are very, very similar. I personally still prefer the Glossier one and think you get more for your money the Glossier route, but if you’re not a fan of ordering online then the Jack Black one is a great alternative that I still love and use.
Overall, I really have no complaints about Glossier. I was skeptical of whether or not it would be worth the hype it’s gotten, but it definitely is. It’s a beautiful brand with minimalistic packaging and products, perfect for a busy, on-the-go, person. If you want to check out any of the products I’ve mentioned, I’ll have them linked within the blog post.
